International

In June 2007, we traveled to Niagara Falls, Ontario, Canada on our return journey from Ashburn, Virginia to Tallahassee, FL. Our trip started in Ashburn and we flew Delta Airline and arrived in Buffalo Niagara (BUF) International Airport, New York in early morning. We picked our rental car and drove toward Niagara Falls, New York. After arriving there we checked into our hotel, put our extra luggage and drove to Niagara Falls, Ontario, Canada. This meant crossing the international border across the Niagara river over the famous Rainbow Bridge. We had to go through the customs and immigration people to clear our trip to Canada, but it was quick and easy and is all done while you are still inside the car.

We parked the car and went down to the famous Maid of the Mist river boat company. We bought our tickets at the counter (Maid of the Mist doesn't allow advance purchases) and received blue ponchos to protect us from the mist and the ride was about 25 minutes long and was very enjoyable and wet!! After the boat ride we slowly strolled through the beautiful Queen Victoria Park and headed toward the Skylon Tower. We purchased the tickets for the Sklyon Tower ride at the counter and took a ride in the open yellow elevator all the way to the top of the tower. We could get a really breath taking view of the Canadian Horse-shoe Falls and the American Falls from the tower.

Then we walked along the entertainment area of the City of Niagara Falls, Canada, and checked out Dinosaur Park Miniature Golf. Then we crossed back to the USA side of the border and had dinner. Compared to the Canadian side the US side had less resturants, entertainment, and shops. Therefore, anyone wanting to have more choices of merchandise will have better luck on the other side. Finally went down to Niagara Falls State Park, USA the for the night-time fireworks and laser-light show (which was coming from the Canadian side of the buildings).

The next morning we had some quick breakfast and again crossed back to the Canadian side of the border and parked our car way past the horse-shoe falls near the Floral Showhouse. Then we took a leisurely walk toward the falls looking at the flowers, the Niagara river rapids heading toward the Canadian Horse-shoe Falls. Spent sometime in and around the falls. We went inside visitor center and shops and purchased some souvenirs before heading out to the US side via the Rainbow bridge. That afternoon we checked out of the hotel and headed toward Buffalo, NY on our way back home.
